As of November 3, 2015, the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) has recorded 641 data breaches with 175,669,297 records exposed. To see the full breach list visit: http://bit.ly/1ygP3yG.
175,669,297. That number is 175 million, six hundred sixty nine thousand, two hundred ninety seven. That is how many records have been exposed during 2015. I know my records are part of that number. Your records probably are as well. Does that mean you have had your identity hacked? Not really. But it means that someone who should NOT have access to your information does. Who knows what they will do with it.
And, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), a disproportionate number of scams, fraud, and identity theft-related incidents occur during the holidays. Therefore, it appears that 2015 may be the worst year on record.
2014 – 783 breaches 2011 – 421 breaches 2008 – 656 breaches
2013 – 614 breaches 2010 – 662 breaches 2007 – 446 breaches
2012 – 471 breaches 2009 – 498 breaches 2006 – 321 breaches
You can see why identity theft has been the top consumer complaint filed with the FTC for 15 years straight. The criminals are getting smarter. And they are not going away. That’s why you need a company that understands potential threats, how to prevent them, and how to restore any damage done.
That’s why I have IDShield. IDShield monitors my identity from every angle, not just my social security number, credit cards and bank accounts. They watch over everything connected to me, including my passport, email, phone numbers, driver’s license number, medical IDs and more. And, if any change in my status occurs, I receive an email update immediately.
IDShield is the only company with an exclusive partnership with Kroll, the worldwide leader in theft investigative services. If a compromise occurs, all I have to do is contact my licensed private investigator who will immediately begin restoring my identity to exactly the way it was before the compromise occurred.
